We review applications on a rolling basis from both Loma Linda University students and motivated students at other institutions. Here is exactly what to prepare and what to expect.
Application requirements
Current CV
Your most up-to-date curriculum vitae, including any prior research experience.
Letter of interest
A short letter describing your interest in plastic surgery research and what you hope to contribute.
MCAT score report
A copy of your official MCAT score report.
USMLE transcripts (if applicable)
If you have completed USMLE Step exams, include your transcripts.
Letter of good standing (non-LLU students)
Students outside Loma Linda University should include a letter of good standing from their home institution.
Onboarding, once accepted
All incoming members
Complete CITI (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative) human-subjects research training before participating in any active protocol.
LLU students
Obtain Epic EMR access through the university to support chart review and data collection on active protocols.
Students outside LLU
Complete onboarding through LLUH Volunteer Services to gain the credentialing needed to participate on-site.

Welcome & administrative updates
Active project review
Each ongoing study reports progress against its current phase.
Action items & deadlines
Concrete next steps assigned before the following meeting.
New project intake & team assignments
Emerging project ideas are proposed and matched with available team members.
Quarterly, we replace the standard agenda with a 30-minute dedicated block on residency application strategy and guidance.
